Behind The Scenes: In The Kitchen (And BHG) With The Berkus Brothers

If you pick up the October issue of Better Homes & Gardens, not only will you get the tutorial for the black-and-white painted pumpkins you see on the cover, you’ll see an on point kitchen makeover, courtesy of Nate.

Nate’s brother, Steven, and his wife Yassi were in need of a kitchen overhaul for their new home. Luckily for them, they knew a guy.

And not just any designer, but a guy who has designed more than 150 kitchens in his career, and…also happens to be Artistic Advisor for LG Studio.

Yassi took on the fun task of communicating their family needs with Nate through late-night texts. And about the importance of bringing in a stellar range that could stand up to big family breakfasts and a refrigerator that was going to work – and look – like a dream.

Together they created this dog- and kid-friendly – paradise that’s just the right blend of dramatic and classic. With just a hint of shiplap. Ever wonder what Nate-approved shiplap looks like? Check out that range hood cover…

  • Steve was skeptical of the the light oak flooring, so Nate used classic big-brother tactics to convince him.
  • All smiles once Steve saw the flooring and realized that designers (and older siblings) always know best.
