Considering the number of homes that Nate and his design firm have worked on, it’s hard to imagine that he’d be able to recall small details and specific feelings from a particular interior at a moment’s notice.
But this beach house in Malibu – originally featured in California style bible C Magazine in 2008 – has a special place in Nate’s heart for several reasons.
For one, the view had to be seriously celebrated; nothing in the home should distract from it. “Almost 10 years later, I find myself living in California and still thinking of that dreamy coastal scene. It was the perfect driving force for the project.”
Nate and the design team incorporated textured neutrals, like a warm woven bed frame, sleek surfaces, and – surprise! – a surfboard. Together, they all brought a chic, relaxed feel to this weekend home.
But what is most poignant and meaningful about the project: “Our client has sadly passed away, but before she did, she reached out to share with us how happy this home made her,” says Nate.
