Let’s all take a moment and pretend we’re sitting in this dreamy Belgian countryside-inspired kitchen.
It’s the product of Nate and Jeremiah’s design work in the premiere episode of their show on TLC – annnd the next episode airs tomorrow night, Saturday at 9/8c.
Now, in case you missed it, or just need a reminder, here’s what it looked like before Nate and Jeremiah took the reigns…
While the show takes us through the ups and downs of the renovation process, we were struck by a couple particular details that don’t just help make this space beautiful, they make it highly functional, especially for a busy family of four.
First up, light wood floors. We learn straightaway that Brenda and Scott are pining for dark wood floors, but Nate and Jeremiah are quick to dispel the myth that darker floors are easier to keep clean. Turns out scratches and day-to-day dirt can wreak havoc on the dark stain. Meanwhile light wood flooring is better off for rolling with daily messes and scrapes.
Also, rugs as slipcovers. Nate recovered the family’s new ottoman with a rug sewn into a slipcover. It’s a genius move that makes for an easy-to-wash, impossible-to-ruin cover for a workhorse piece of furniture.
