We’re just going to say it: there are some design myths out there that have been masquerading as rules. But Nate’s here to bust them for the creativity-squashers they are.
First up: mixing metals. Who was the person to declare that a room must only consist of a single metal in order to be chic? Furthermore, what kind of all-silver room did they live in?
Certainly not this luxe and eclectic one – look close and you’ll count five different metals at play here. And “play” is a key word. See how they come together in a way that feels playful, as well as glamorous?
“Metals are meant to be mixed,” Nate says. Hear that? Meant to be mixed. We’re tossing that myth and replacing it with a rule. If you need any proof, just look to any kitchen he’s designed – stainless steel appliances with unlacquered brass, black fixtures, polished brass hardware, the works! And for further inspiration, check out a selection of metallic pieces from Nate’s latest collection available at Target…
Gold and silver and brass, oh my! Let’s be clear that all of these pieces can coexist peacefully and chicly in one room. Think of them all like jewelry for your room – no need to limit things to a single metal. In fact, the more the merrier.
