I couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to the one and only J.J. Martin – the fashion editor who knows everyone, dresses better than everyone, and is beloved by… well, you guessed it.
She runs LaDoubleJ.com, a “new-school, multi-tasking Milanese brand that tells stories, takes photos, creates new clothing, unearths rare vintage and pulls back the curtain on Italy’s hidden creative talent,” as she so cleverly puts it.
The latest arm of the brand is LaDoubleJ Design – J.J. and her team have a special offering of vintage chairs covered in vintage prints. And I’m proud to say you can shop it NOW in my 1stdibs storefront!
Trust me: this is the next best thing to J.J. letting you shop her closet. Back when I lived in Italy, she and I would hit every flea market and antiques warehouse we could find, taking in all the history, architecture, art and inspiration we could find.
This venture is about as close as you can get to that kind of Milano life: the patterns you see here were pulled by the LaDoubleJ ladies from a 115-year-old textile archive in Lake Como. As for the 20 chairs? “Each one is a mid-century Italian original; all have been hunted down by our team in Milan and lovingly re-covered in new polished cotton fabric printed with a vintage pattern from the Mantero Seta silk archive,” says J.J. “The designs were originally used for fashion from the 1920s-1990s—but do wonders to jazz up the aura of a 1960s chair today.”
Of course, being the fashion guru she is, she’s also selling dresses in the same archival prints as the chairs on her site – modeled above by her and her team. Because no one knows better than J.J. that the connection between fashion and interiors is as strong and brilliant as a Milano espresso.
