The best interiors are ones where people have taken risks. The intention with my Target collection has never been that it is only “one note”. It’s not about going out and buying the whole collection. Pick one, or two things, that you love, and then get creative about where, and how you use them. Sure, there are rules about scale but when it comes to objects and accessories… go with what you love, and what feels “right” to YOU.
And when it comes to styling these pieces together – that’s where it really gets fun. You can see how we brought them together for an event in New York, at left, but I’ve also included some of my favorite pairings below.
This rhino brings shine and personality to any surface. And, even though he feels decidedly modern, he works with any of the more well-traveled items in the collection. Mixing eras and looks is what make a home interesting. Try the rhino with the textured votive holders and cross hatch ceramic picture frame.
I tend to lean toward pottery that feels hand wrought, but every once in a while I’m drawn to the idea of something more modern. This sculpted ceramic vase perfectly captures that. I love the strongly defined shape. And, when you add in the drama of the handled brass vase, you have a set that will definitely get noticed.
Each season, there’s always one item that you can’t stop thinking about until the moment it arrives in-store. For me, it was this braided yarn throw. The openness of its weave makes it a showstopper! Pair it with embellished beaded and crocheted pillows, still in a neutral color scheme, for a rich, textured sofascape.
